Dubai International (DXB) is Dubai’s main international airport and a major long-haul transfer hub, anchored by Emirates and flydubai rather than by a global airline alliance. Emirates is not in oneworld, Star Alliance or SkyTeam, so DXB works best as an Emirates/flydubai network hub, while many alliance and independent international carriers use Terminal 1. Terminal 3 is the flagship Emirates terminal, also used by selected flydubai flights and some partner airlines such as United and Air Canada; Terminal 1 handles many other international carriers via D gates; Terminal 2, on the opposite side of the airport, is used by flydubai and regional/international operators. For the city, the Metro Red Line from Terminals 1 and 3 is usually the cleanest choice if you are travelling light and within operating hours; taxis and ride-hailing are better for late arrivals, luggage or door-to-door trips. For transits, stay airside where possible, allow extra margin for Terminal 2 or separate-ticket connections, and use DXB’s transfer desks, airport trains, lounges, sleep options and the Terminal 3 transit hotel for longer waits.

• Metro → central Dubai via the Red Line from DXB Terminals 1 and 3 · Dubai Airports says the Red Line serves Terminals 1 and 3. Operating hours: Monday-Thursday 05:00-midnight, Friday 05:00-01:00 next day, Saturday 05:00-midnight, Sunday 08:00-midnight; check RTA for latest timings.

Bus / coach

RTA buses operate from dedicated stands at Arrivals in Terminals 1, 2 and 3; a Nol card is required and cash is not accepted.

Taxi

Dubai Taxi Company taxis are available 24/7 at designated ranks in each terminal; official page notes a starting fare of AED 25 plus distance charges.

Train / metro

Dubai Metro Red Line serves Terminals 1 and 3; tickets/Nol cards are available at DXB Terminal 1 and 3 ticket offices and vending machines.

Rideshare
