Tan Son Nhat International Airport (SGN) is Ho Chi Minh City’s main airport and one of Vietnam’s key air gateways. For frequent flyers, its most important role is as Vietnam Airlines’ southern hub within SkyTeam, with dense domestic feed and regional/international links; Vietjet also has a major low-cost operation here. The airport is compact by distance but not always by time: T2 handles international flights, while domestic operations are split between T1 and the newer T3, so terminal accuracy matters more than at many single-campus airports. T1 and T2 are adjacent and can be walked landside in a few minutes; T3 is separate and linked by free airport shuttle or road transfer, typically needing a meaningful buffer. SGN works well for point-to-point travel and protected airline connections, but self-connectors should be conservative because immigration, baggage reclaim, traffic around the terminal roads, and re-screening can all be bottlenecks.
