Vienna International Airport VIELOWW
Vienna International Airport (VIE) is Austria’s main international gateway and the home hub of Austrian Airlines, part of Star Alliance. It works well as a compact Central European connecting airport: strong short-haul coverage across Europe, especially Central/Eastern Europe, plus selected long-haul services. Austrian and many Star Alliance carriers use Terminal 3, while Terminal 1 and 1A handle a mix of non-Star, leisure and low-cost airlines; Ryanair is also a significant presence. For the city, the simplest fast rail link is the CAT to Wien Mitte in about 16 minutes; Railjet reaches Vienna Hauptbahnhof in about 15 minutes, and S7 serves Wien Mitte in about 25 minutes with more intermediate stops. Airside transfers are generally straightforward, but Schengen/non-Schengen itineraries may require passport control and separate-ticket connections may require immigration, baggage collection and re-check.
