Hamad International Airport (DOH) is Qatar’s main international gateway and the hub for Qatar Airways, Qatar Airways Cargo and Qatar Executive; Qatar Airways is a oneworld member. For frequent flyers, think of DOH less as a regional side airport and more as a long-haul connecting hub linking Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Asia and Australasia. The passenger operation is effectively a single integrated Terminal 1 with connected concourses A-E, so normal international transfers are airside within the same building rather than a landside terminal change. Follow transfer signs to the A, B, C or D transfer halls, clear hand-baggage screening, and watch the gate-close time. For Doha city centre, the cleanest default is the Doha Metro Red Line from Hamad International Airport T1 to central Msheireb, roughly 15-20 minutes on the train; taxis or ride-hailing are simpler with heavy bags or outside metro hours and usually take about 15-25 minutes depending on traffic. Long layovers are unusually workable here: there is an airside Oryx Airport Hotel, quiet/rest areas, showers and fitness/wellness options, plus Discover Qatar transit tours for eligible longer connections.
