Health
Use normal food-and-water caution: standards vary by place and activity, so choose busy, well-reviewed food outlets and bottled/treated water if unsure. Summer heat and UV can be intense, especially on the Aegean/Mediterranean coasts and inland sites; hydrate and plan shade. Prevent mosquito, sand-fly and tick bites; CDC notes malaria risk in some areas. High-altitude issues are mainly for mountain trekking, e.g., eastern Turkey/Mount Ararat.
Vaccinations
Consult a doctor or travel clinic at least 1 month before travel. Be up to date on routine vaccines, including MMR, polio, tetanus/diphtheria/pertussis, varicella, flu, shingles if eligible, and COVID-19. CDC recommends hepatitis A for unvaccinated travelers, hepatitis B for many travelers, typhoid for most travelers, and rabies discussion for animal/outdoor exposure or limited access to care. Yellow-fever vaccine is not recommended and no certificate is required for Turkey.
eSIM / connectivity
eSIM is broadly usable in Turkey on compatible phones, especially in cities and tourist corridors. The main local networks are Turkcell, Vodafone Turkey and Türk Telekom; shops also sell tourist SIM/data options, and local eSIM replacement/activation is available through carriers. International travel eSIMs commonly roam on these networks; install before arrival if possible, since access to some eSIM provider sites/apps can be unreliable in-country.
