Milton Keynes is a planned city in Buckinghamshire, England, located approximately 50 miles (80 km) northwest of London. As the largest of the post-war new towns, it was designed in the 1960s to relieve housing congestion in London, incorporating historic settlements like Bletchley and Wolverton alongside rural landscapes. The city is renowned for its unique grid of distributor roads, which separate organic neighborhood developments, and an extensive network of shared-use paths for cyclists and pedestrians. About 25% of the urban area consists of parkland and woodland, featuring linear parks and balancing lakes along the River Great Ouse and its tributary, the River Ouzel.
