Health
Use normal travel hygiene: choose safe food and drinks, wash hands, and treat backcountry water. CDC flags bug-bite risks in Albania, including ticks and sand flies, so use repellent and tick checks for hiking/rural stays. Summer heat and UV can be strong on the coast and in cities; carry water, sunscreen, and avoid peak heat. Mountain trips in the Albanian Alps bring changeable weather and some higher-elevation exposure.
Vaccinations
Consult a doctor or travel clinic at least a month before travel. CDC advises being up to date on routine vaccines, including MMR, polio, flu, Tdap/DTaP, varicella and shingles as applicable, plus COVID-19. Hepatitis A is recommended for unvaccinated travelers, and Hepatitis B for unvaccinated travelers of all ages. Rabies pre-exposure vaccine is situation-based for higher animal-exposure or remote travelers. Yellow-fever vaccine is not recommended for Albania itself; a certificate is required for travelers aged 1+ arriving from countries with yellow-fever transmission risk.
eSIM / connectivity
Connectivity is generally straightforward in cities, resorts and main roads. The main local mobile operators are Vodafone Albania and One Albania; Vodafone advertises a Tourist Pack, while both carriers sell prepaid/mobile data services through stores and apps. Travel eSIMs covering Albania are widely available from international eSIM providers, but local-operator eSIM availability can be less visible online, so confirm device compatibility and eSIM issue at the carrier store or app before relying on it.
