Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) is Berlin’s main commercial airport and the gateway for Berlin-Brandenburg, but it is not a major alliance megahub in the Frankfurt/Munich/Amsterdam sense. Treat it mainly as an origin-and-destination airport with a strong European city/leisure network plus selected long-haul services. It serves Star Alliance, oneworld and SkyTeam carriers, but Lufthansa does not use BER as a hub; the more relevant bases/operators for frequent travelers are easyJet, Eurowings, Condor, Sundair and Ryanair, noting Ryanair had announced a major Berlin base reduction for late 2026. The airport is compact by big-hub standards: all passenger flights use Terminals 1 and 2, which are next to each other and share the same airport rail station under T1.
