It is strongest as a European, Spanish domestic and nearby North Africa gateway, with activity from Ryanair, Vueling, Air Nostrum/Iberia Regional and other full-service carriers; it has alliance connectivity but no large alliance fortress operation. Aena lists airlines in a single terminal, so transfers are mainly walking between connected check-in/gate zones rather than terminal shuttles. The easiest city link is Metrovalencia lines 3 and 5 from the airport station on the ground floor of the regional-flights area, typically around 15-20 minutes to central stops such as Xàtiva/Colón depending on destination. For layovers, VLC is convenient for a quick city visit if you have Schengen entry rights and enough buffer, but it is not built like a major connecting hub: no notable published airport-wide minimum connection time or airside transit hotel should be assumed.
