Mandarin Oriental
Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group traces its modern story to the 1963 opening of The Mandarin in Hong Kong and the Group’s 1974 partial acquisition of The Oriental in Bangkok; the two flagship names later formed the Mandarin Oriental identity. The company positions itself in luxury hospitality, describing its business as luxury hotels, resorts and residences rather than midscale lodging. On its official company and history pages, Mandarin Oriental says it operates 46 hotels, 15 residences and 39 Exceptional Homes in 29 countries and territories. Its main guest recognition programme is Fans of M.O.; the group also presents The O&MO Alliance with Oberoi Hotels & Resorts as a member-benefit partnership between two luxury hotel groups.
