Zlín

Zlín, the capital of the Zlín Region in the Czech Republic, is a city defined by its industrial heritage and unique architectural identity. With approximately 75,000 residents, it sits on the Dřevnice River and was fundamentally shaped by the Bata Shoes company and its innovative social schemes developed after World War I. For frequent-flyer hotel travelers, Zlín offers a distinct experience where modernist urban planning meets historical preservation. A significant portion of the city is protected as an urban monument zone, featuring valuable Bauhaus-style architecture that provides a visually striking backdrop for business and leisure stays. Unlike larger metropolitan hubs, Zlín’s compact nature allows guests to easily navigate between their accommodation and key cultural sites on foot. While primarily known as an industrial center, its well-preserved historic core offers a quiet, efficient environment ideal for travelers seeking a blend of functional infrastructure and architectural interest. The city served as Gottwaldov between 1949 and 1989, adding layers of historical context to its current identity.

La Villa

Restaurant Michelin€€€1.7 km

A really lovely restaurant located slightly above the town… and it's not just the interior that is elegant and stylish – the food certainly holds its own. The classic/French-based dishes are subtly polished by the chef, as he brings in regional influences; this approach works particularly well with the saddle of fallow deer, for example. The best way to experience the handiwork of the kitchen is to opt for the set menu, "Le Pin". A vegetarian set menu is also available. At midday they only offer a simple lunch menu with two or three courses. Convenient: parking in front of the establishment.
