Where to Base
Hotels are primarily concentrated in the city center and near Tashichho Dzong. This area offers convenient walking access to key attractions, government buildings, and traditional markets, making it the ideal base for experiencing the political and cultural heart of Bhutan.
Getting Around
There is no local airport; visitors must arrive by road from Paro Airport, 52 kilometers away. While attractions are relatively centralized, the terrain is hilly. Taxis or hired cars are recommended for comfortable transfers between hotels and sites.
Best Season
Autumn (September-October) is the prime time, offering pleasant weather and the chance to witness the grand Tshechu festival mask dances. This period allows travelers to deeply experience Bhutan's unique religious culture and community spirit alongside sightseeing.
