Where to Base
Stay in the main town or near the riverfront for easy access to piers and boat tours to the floating villages. Most accommodations offer basic, rustic Thai-style rooms with simple amenities, prioritizing atmosphere and tranquility over luxury.
Getting Around
There is no airport; access requires a bus or train transfer from Bangkok via Kanchanaburi. Within the town, walking, songthaews, or motorbike rentals are common. Long-tail boats must be booked in advance for trips to remote hill tribe villages.
Best Season
The cool dry season from November to February is ideal for visiting floating villages and hiking. The rainy season (June-October) brings high water levels, which can limit access to some areas and make travel more challenging.
