Paralimni Town Centre
Local, practical base with shops and cafes

Paralimni serves as the primary commuter town and temporary administrative center for the Famagusta District. Having grown significantly since 1974, it acts as the logistical hub for the nearby tourist hotspots of Ayia Napa and Protaras. For frequent travelers seeking a quieter base away from the coastal crowds, Paralimni offers convenient access to the region's main attractions while providing a more residential atmosphere.

Paralimni has no metro or rail. Use OSEA buses in the Famagusta district: routes 101/102 are the key visitor lines between Paralimni, Pernera, Protaras, Konnos, Cape Greco and Ayia Napa; route 301 loops around Paralimni, and 510/11 or 510/12 serve Kapparis. Tourists can use paper tickets or a Motion smart card; OSEA sells 1-, 5- and 7-day options, and on-board purchases are cash only. Check LiveBuses/OSEA times, especially at night and outside summer; taxis or a rental car help for late meals, scattered beaches and Cape Greco.

Choosing Paralimni as your base offers a quieter night's sleep away from the beachfront noise. It is strategically located for short drives to Ayia Napa or Protaras, ideal for travelers balancing relaxation with easy access to nightlife and beaches.
As the main commuter hub for the area, renting a car or using taxis is recommended to reach the coast. There is no local airport; travelers must arrive via Larnaca or Paphos airports and transfer by road, typically taking 1-1.5 hours.
Summer (June-August) is peak season; when coastal hotels are fully booked, Paralimni offers a cost-effective alternative. Spring and autumn provide pleasant weather, perfect for exploring the district's administrative and historical sites.
