Before choosing where to stay

Where to Base

Prioritize accommodations near the port or the canal entrance to leverage the town's logistical advantages. As a non-tourist hub, hotels primarily serve business and transit needs. Verify exact locations in advance to ensure they align with your itinerary, as options may be limited compared to larger cities like Caen.

Getting Around

The Caen Canal provides a direct waterway link to the city of Caen, facilitating access to broader business districts. The harbor offers ferry services to England, ideal for cross-channel travelers. Local connectivity relies mainly on road and rail networks linking to surrounding areas.

Best Season

Business travel is viable year-round. Spring to autumn offers mild weather, suitable for combining port activities or ferry schedules with visits. Winter may bring rougher seas, but logistics operations remain normal, making it acceptable for pure transit stays.

Not far from the seaside resort, this family restaurant is the stomping ground of a couple who have experience working in some fine establishments. Yoann Lavalley has bought the stove which he used during his apprenticeship and uses it to create seasonal cuisine that is both flavourful and indulgent. The sommelier, his wife, has curated a nice wine list that represents excellent value for money. Fish of the day, local meat, Normandy cheeses… A pleasant place.
