die kleine Linde

€€€€Modern Cuisine, Seasonal Cuisine

This compact restaurant started out in autumn 2024 as a pop-up serving dishes à la carte. Today, it opens its doors in the evenings to present modern and creative cuisine in the form of two five- or seven-course set menus: "Eine Rundreise" and the vegetarian "Botanischer Garten". At the helm in the kitchen, Valentin Thesing (previously at Aqua in Wolfsburg) delivers expressive, harmonious flavour combinations in dishes such as "scallop, water spinach, coconut", complete with robust sauces and stocks. The restaurant is housed in the stately, lovingly renovated Jugendstil building of the Lindenh

Enrico Dunkel and his small restaurant have been a well-established part of the city's culinary landscape for years. His cooking style is ambitious, creative and draws on international influences. In summer, the pretty terrace beckons.

TripAdvisor review sample · 4.7/5 · 80 reviews

Das Alte House in Brunswick offers modern international cuisine. Reviews highlight creative dishes, excellent wines, and generally attentive service within a cozy, classic atmosphere. However, some guests note overly salty or complex flavors, while extreme complaints cite rude or discriminatory staff. A few reviewers find the high prices unjustified given the portion sizes and occasional inconsistencies in seafood quality. It is best suited for special occasions, though experiences may vary significantly based on specific service interactions and personal taste preferences.

Suitable for diners seeking creative cuisine for special occasions, with attention to service consistency.

Zucker

€€Farm to table, Contemporary

The name sort of gives it away if you have any German: This attractive modern brasserie is housed in a former sugar factory, now a listed building. Exposed red brick walls and high ceilings give the setting an appealing industrial feel. In summer, the terrace is shaded by awnings. Flavoursome seasonally inspired dishes are served à la carte, with an additional set menu available. The waitstaff are pleasantly down-to-earth, very friendly and well organised.

Überland

€€€Contemporary, International

In less than a minute, the lift takes you up to the 18th floor of the BraWoPark building near Hauptbahnhof. People come here to enjoy modern cuisine in a trendy, chic setting – not to mention the view. Try the choice cuts of the excellent beef aged in-house. Incidentally, the concept is the brainchild of TV chef and food professional Tim Mälzer. NB: two sittings per evening. On the floor above, rooftop bar and terrace.

TripAdvisor review sample · 3.0/5 · 80 reviews

Overlooking the city from the 18th floor, Überland presents a mixed experience with an average TripAdvisor rating of 3.0/5 based on 80 reviews. Positive comments highlight attentive service, delicious food, and excellent cocktails, noting a successful restart. However, negative feedback frequently cites slow service, long waits for mains, lukewarm food, and a cold environment. While some diners praised specific items like steak and Pinot Gris, others reported organizational issues and unmet requests. The atmosphere is lively, but consistency in service and food quality varies significantly among guests.

Suitable for visitors seeking high-altitude views and cocktails, but be prepared for potential service delays.
