Brașov-Ghimbav Airport (GHV) is about 12 km from Brașov. RATBV bus A1 links the airport with Livada Poștei near the old centre and Brașov railway station; allow roughly 25-40 minutes depending on traffic and waits. Taxis or ride-hailing usually take about 20-30 minutes to the centre. Many long-haul visitors still arrive via Bucharest Henri Coandă (OTP): take the airport train to București Nord, then a CFR train to Brașov; plan about 3.5-4.5 hours door to door, longer by road in peak traffic.

Brașov has no metro. Use RATBV buses and trolleybuses; key visitor routes include A1 for the airport and route 20 between Livada Poștei and Poiana Brașov. For most tourists, pay contactless on board or use 24Pay; if riding several times, consider the RATBV Urban Pass for 1, 3 or 7 days. A single urban trip is about 5 lei and valid around 90 minutes. Check live times in Google Maps/RATBV, validate every ride, and expect the old centre itself to be easiest on foot.

Base yourself in the Old Town (Centru Vechi) near the Black Church for walkable access to historic sites. The city center offers excellent connectivity for exploring the medieval streets and serves as a convenient launchpad for trips into the surrounding Southern Carpathians.
The city is compact, with the historic center best explored on foot. Located about 166 km north of Bucharest, Brașov has good road connections to the surrounding mountains, making it easy to arrange day trips or explore the broader Transylvanian region via car or organized tours.
Brașov is a year-round destination. Summer offers hiking in the Carpathians, while winter provides excellent skiing. Spring and autumn feature mild weather, perfect for sightseeing the historic architecture and experiencing the unique cultural atmosphere of Transylvania without peak-season crowds.
