Where to Base
The island features three main settlements: Milia, Skala, and Pori. Milia serves as the administrative center with essential services. Skala is the most popular area for tourists, offering the best beaches, tavernas, and accommodation options. Pori is quieter and more secluded. Choosing Skala provides the best balance of accessibility and leisure, while Milia offers convenience for daily needs.
Getting Around
There is no airport on Agistri. Access is primarily via ferry from Piraeus Port. Once on the island, transportation is limited due to its small size and pedestrian-friendly nature. Visitors typically get around by walking, renting bicycles, or using local taxis. Most hotels offer bicycle rentals, making it easy to explore the coastline and villages at a leisurely pace.
Best Season
The peak season runs from June to September, offering warm weather and calm seas ideal for swimming and sunbathing. During these months, most hotels and restaurants are fully operational, though crowds may be larger. Spring and autumn provide mild temperatures and fewer tourists, appealing to those seeking tranquility. Some facilities may close during the winter months.
