Where to Base
Stay in the village center or along the coast near Agios Ioannis. These areas offer proximity to the historic church and main beaches, with easy walking access to tavernas and shops. It provides a quiet yet convenient base for exploring the island's spiritual sites and coastal scenery.
Getting Around
Tinos has no airport; access is via ferry from Athens (Piraeus or Rafina). Local buses connect major towns and beaches, but schedules can be limited. Renting a car or ATV is recommended for flexibility to explore inland villages, monasteries, and secluded coves that public transport may not reach efficiently.
Best Season
May through October offers the best weather. July and August are hot and busy, ideal for beach activities. May and September provide milder temperatures and fewer crowds. Note that July 15th hosts the major Feast of the Assumption, drawing large pilgrims; book accommodations well in advance if visiting during this period.
