Health
Use safe food and water habits; local tourism advice says wash food well and cook thoroughly. Malaria risk is mainly in eastern areas bordering Mozambique/South Africa, so use bite prevention and ask a travel clinic about malaria medicine if going there. Avoid swimming in untreated freshwater because schistosomiasis occurs. Expect summer rain/thunderstorms, hot lowveld days, chilly winter nights, strong sun, and altitude-related temperature changes.
Vaccinations
Consult a doctor or travel clinic at least a month before travel. CDC advises being up to date on routine vaccines, including MMR, plus COVID-19. Common travel considerations include hepatitis A, hepatitis B, typhoid, malaria prevention for risk areas, and rabies vaccine for higher animal-exposure or remote trips. Yellow-fever vaccine is not recommended for Eswatini itself, but a certificate is required for travelers aged 9 months or older arriving from, or transiting over 12 hours in, a yellow-fever-risk country.
eSIM / connectivity
Connectivity is workable but eSIM is not universal. Eswatini Mobile lists e-SIM self-service, self-registration, prepaid data bundles, and limited 5G in Manzini/Matsapha. MTN Eswatini is the other major carrier and lists SIM registration plus data and roaming bundles, but no clear official MTN tourist eSIM offer was found. Check device compatibility, ID registration rules, and coverage; regional travel eSIMs may work by roaming.
