Health
Lithuania is low-altitude, so altitude illness is not a normal concern. Tap-water and food standards are generally high, but use normal food/water hygiene, especially when camping or in rural areas. Summer heat waves can occur; hydrate and use sun protection. Ticks are a practical outdoor risk in forests/grasslands, with tick-borne encephalitis and Lyme disease present; use repellent and check skin after hikes. Mosquitoes are seasonal but malaria is not a routine traveler risk.
Vaccinations
Consult a doctor or travel clinic at least a month before travel. CDC lists routine vaccines as the baseline, including MMR, polio, flu, varicella, Tdap and shingles where age-appropriate, plus being up to date on COVID-19. Hepatitis A is recommended for unvaccinated travelers, Hepatitis B for unvaccinated travelers of all ages. Tick-borne encephalitis vaccine is recommended or considered for travelers with substantial outdoor tick exposure. Rabies pre-exposure vaccine is only for higher-risk activities or limited access to prompt care. Yellow-fever vaccine is not recommended and Lithuania does not require a yellow-fever certificate.
eSIM / connectivity
eSIM is broadly supported by Lithuania’s main mobile operators. Bitė states eSIM works with all plans it sells, and Tele2 lists eSIM phone service; Telia is also a major nationwide carrier. Local prepaid/data brands include Telia’s Ežys, Bitė/LABAS and Tele2/Pildyk, but visitors should confirm whether a prepaid eSIM or only a physical SIM is available at the time of purchase. International travel eSIMs also commonly cover Lithuania on local networks.
