Mexico City International Airport, Benito Juarez (MEX/AICM), remains one of Mexico’s key air hubs and the closest major airport to central Mexico City. It is Aeromexico’s main hub at Terminal 2 and an important SkyTeam/Delta-Aeromexico connection point, while Terminal 1 handles a broad mix of international, intercontinental, domestic and low-cost operations. For frequent flyers, MEX is convenient but rarely effortless: traffic, security queues, immigration, baggage reclaim and terminal transfers can all be meaningful parts of the journey. Use official taxi counters or app pickup points for door-to-door city transfers; use Metrobus Line 4 when traveling light to Centro Historico, Bellas Artes or Reforma. For connections, treat same-terminal protected itineraries differently from self-connects or T1-T2 changes, because international arrivals into Mexico may require immigration, customs and baggage handling before re-check.
