Tan Son Nhat International Airport (SGN) is Ho Chi Minh City’s main airport and Vietnam’s key southern gateway. It is a hub for Vietnam Airlines, a SkyTeam member, and also a major operating base for Vietnamese carriers such as VietJet, Pacific Airlines, Bamboo Airways, VASCO and Vietravel Airlines. The route network is a mix of dense domestic trunk flying, especially to Hanoi and Da Nang, and regional/international service across Southeast Asia, Northeast Asia, the Gulf, Australia and selected long-haul points. SGN is close to District 1, but road congestion around the airport is a real planning factor. For frequent flyers, the practical airport story is terminals: T2 handles international flights, T1 is now mainly VietJet domestic, and T3 handles most other domestic carriers including Vietnam Airlines group services. T1 and T2 sit next to each other; T3 is farther away, so build in transfer time and check your airline’s terminal before leaving the aircraft or car.
