New Chitose Airport CTSRJCC
New Chitose Airport (CTS) is the main air gateway for Sapporo and Hokkaido. Treat it as a strong domestic airport first: ANA and JAL have major presence, AIRDO and Skymark are important Hokkaido operators, and international service is useful but more regional Asia-focused than global long-haul hub-like. The layout is straightforward: a Domestic Terminal on the east side, an International Terminal on the west side, and a connecting facility between them, so most terminal changes are a walk rather than a shuttle ride. For central Sapporo, the JR train from the airport station on B1 is usually the cleanest default, reaching Sapporo in about 30 minutes without a transfer. CTS is also unusually layover-friendly for Japan: the public-side airport complex has restaurants, shops, an onsen, cinema-style entertainment and terminal-connected hotels, while lounges range from domestic card lounges to international Priority Pass/DragonPass access and airline-contract space.
