A mainland China passport alone is not sufficient for short tourist/business entry to Taiwan. Mainland Area residents generally need a Taiwan Exit & Entry Permit in advance; if departing mainland China, a Mainland Resident Travel Permit to Taiwan and a valid endorsement may also be required.
Sources state that mainland residents living in mainland China face suspended/restricted individual tourism permission; overseas/Hong Kong/Macau residence and other cases require separate Taiwan Exit & Entry Permit procedures.
