Entry & visa

China → Puerto Rico

Visa required

A bare mainland China passport needs an appropriate U.S. visitor visa for short tourist or business travel to Puerto Rico; the admitted stay is decided by CBP at entry.

Puerto Rico follows U.S. entry rules. Tourism is generally B-2; business is generally B-1 or B-1/B-2. Holding only a Schengen, UK, Japan visa, or APEC Business Travel Card is not a U.S. visa waiver. China passport holders with 10-year B visas generally also need valid EVUS enrollment.

Documents that change the outcome

  • Visa-free· us_green_card

A U.S. lawful permanent resident returns to the United States/Puerto Rico as a resident, not as a tourist/business visitor; carry a valid Permanent Resident Card or temporary I-551 evidence and travel document. Long absences may affect permanent resident status, and U.S. border authorities still process admissibility.

Does a U.S. green card holder need a tourist visa or ESTA for Puerto Rico?

Generally no B visitor visa or ESTA is needed as a tourist; a U.S. lawful permanent resident returns to the United States/Puerto Rico as a resident.
