Documents & how to apply

Online visa application form — Complete the visa application and payment online via GIRAFE; names must match the passport exactly.
Passport photo — Color JPEG identity photo on a white background, full front view of the face.
Valid passport — Passport must be valid for at least 6 months.
Invitation letter or accommodation certificate — Must bear approval from the Republic of Congo DDST, state the travel purpose and the host's name and address in the Republic of Congo, and be addressed to the Visa Service of the Embassy of the Republic of Congo in Paris.
Copy of flight reservation — Must show departure and return dates.
Online payment receipt — After online registration and payment, print the payment receipt or keep a screenshot.
Passport and complete file submission — After booking an appointment online, submit or mail the passport and complete file as instructed by the embassy.
Evidence of purpose, means of support and accommodation at border control — The official page states visitors must have evidence of visit purpose, means of support and accommodation arrangements at border controls.

Common questions

Can a Chinese ordinary passport holder with a valid U.S. visa enter the Republic of the Congo visa-free for a short tourist/business visit?

No. Treat this as visa required. The checked sources require a Republic of the Congo visa before travel, and the checked visa-free/visa-on-arrival lists do not list holding a U.S. visa as a substitute for a Congo visa.

Can a Singapore passport holder use an APEC Business Travel Card for visa-free business entry to the Republic of the Congo?

Do not treat the ABTC as a Congo visa waiver. ABTC visa/pre-clearance benefits apply to APEC member economies, and the Republic of the Congo is not in the checked APEC participating-economy list. Short business travel to Congo remains visa-required in advance.

Can a U.S. passport holder get a visa on arrival for a short tourist visit to the Republic of the Congo?

Do not treat this as visa on arrival. The U.S. Department of State says a tourist visa is required and must be obtained in advance; France Diplomatie also states that a visa must be obtained before departure.
