Description
The minimalist Japanese-style interior of the restaurant is inviting, as is the lovely verdant inner courtyard terrace. As well as sushi and sashimi (which you can also order omakase), the menu offers a five-course set menu with drink pairings, dubbed "Journey to Japan", and a small à la carte selection of Japanese dishes. The short explanations on the menu are a nice idea. There is also a terrific selection of sake and Japanese whiskies.

Review summary
Sansaro, nestled in a quiet courtyard in Munich's Schwabing district, offers authentic Japanese cuisine. The food receives praise for its premium sushi and creative tasting menus, though some reviews note issues with rice texture or seasoning precision. Service is attentive and professional, led by Japanese staff, although language barriers occasionally arise. The ambiance is simple, modern, and peaceful, focusing attention on the dining experience. However, perceptions of value vary significantly; while many find it worthwhile, others feel the price does not match the quality or expect higher standards given the reputation. Occasional complaints regarding reservation logistics and service professionalism exist. Overall, it suits diners seeking traditional Japanese flavors in a serene setting, but those sensitive to value-for-money may find mixed results.
Best for
Recommended for diners seeking authentic Japanese cuisine in a tranquil setting, but those sensitive to value should manage expectations.
