Patrice Hardy, former Michelin-starred chef from Neuilly, has donned his apron again and is working alongside his charming wife, Corinne. At Le Mazet, just off Saint-Clair beach, he indulges in his favourite pastime: working with fine produce (in particular his beloved truffles). The dishes are harmony on a plate: iced velouté of Coco de Paimpol haricot beans, tomatoes, mini-croûtons and aromatic oil; crispy farm-reared pork; roast pineapple tart and sorbet.

Squid tentacle salad with aioli and lime vinaigrette; catch of the day with saffron gnocchi and tarragon emulsion; rabbit saddle stuffed with sage, served with a full-bodied jus with Espelette pepper. The elegantly presented dishes see striking flavours meet expertly executed cooking. There is a fine selection of organic wines from Provence to enjoy on the terrace in fine weather.

Set in a picturesque little street in the old part of the village, this small restaurant initially charms you with its rustic appeal and delightful terrace, complete with fountain and pergola, and surrounded by greenery and flowers. In the kitchen, Riccardo Berto sprinkles his colourful Mediterranean dishes with Peruvian touches, informed by his experience as chef at L'Altiplano in Val d'Isère. One example would be the amberjack ceviche enhanced by an invigorating leche de tigre with peach and crispy corn. A truly enjoyable experience.

The chef conjures up cuisine oozing in Provençal tradition depending on market availability, all of which at sensible prices: seabream and aioli; seabass in parsley and parmesan cream; Solliès strawberries and a sweet pesto. A few guestrooms are available, just a few dozen metres from a D-Day beach. Well-managed and very friendly.
