Dining

Albi

Middle Eastern · ★ Michelin

$$$$

Few restaurants can match the dynamism and style of Albi in the Navy Yard. Chef Michael Rafidi channels the flavors and recipes of his childhood in this moody, high-energy dining room built on warmth and intimacy. Open-fire cooking is everything here, as the team refines and reimagines Palestinian dishes with verve. Start with crispy kibbeh with pine nuts followed by one (or two) orders of hummus served with a gorgeous dome of freshly baked pita. Variations with smoked lamb and date molasses or charred fava beans and ramps are both total knockouts. Other signatures include lamb kebabs as well

Rose’s Luxury

Contemporary · ★ Michelin

$$$$

Rose’s Luxury leans heavily into its playful, convivial identity, with exposed bulbs, eclectic decor and a lively open kitchen lending the feeling of an unusually elaborate dinner party. The menu follows a family-style prix fixe format with a deliberately cheeky tone, mixing comfort-food references with globally inspired flavors and plenty of excess along the way. Signature dishes like the pork and lychee salad remain on offer, pairing rich sausage with coconut-chile sauce, herbs, peanuts and bursts of sweet lychee, and pastas like the fusilli with sweet pea cream, feta and mint show a lighter

Pineapple and Pearls

Contemporary · ★ Michelin

$$$$

Pineapple and Pearls continues to lean into a highly theatrical form of luxury, where oversized Champagne bottles, balloons, pop music and playful tableside presentations create an atmosphere closer to an extravagant dinner party than a traditional tasting menu restaurant. Chef Aaron Silverman’s menu draws inspiration from Southern cuisine, nostalgia and luxury ingredients, often presented with a sense of humor and deliberate excess. Courses may range from theatrical bites, like the Beggar’s Purse with caviar and crème fraîche, to more whimsical reinterpretations such as walnut lobster inspire

Omakase at Barracks Row

Japanese, Sushi · ★ Michelin

$$$$

Chef Yi "Ricky" Wang, who trained under Chef Nakazawa before running a series of pop-ups, is now settled in at this counter, located up a set of metal stairs in an industrial-chic space. Take special note of the paintings that line that staircase—they're nods to a longstanding tradition of fishermen brushing their catch with ink and pressing it into rice paper—and you may be presented with a similar piece at your meal. Chef Wang's omakase features a few otsumami, perhaps poached sweet shrimp in a smoked Maine uni sauce, before progressing to nigiri. It's all impressive, from the Boston surf cl

Little Pearl

Contemporary · ★ Michelin

$$$$

Just down the street from Rose’s Luxury and Pineapple and Pearls, this intimate boîte is yet another feather in the same restaurant group’s proverbial cap. Possessing all the charm of a carriage house, the dining room is closer to a sunroom encased in glass with expansive views of the green surroundings. The cooking is equally attractive: Seasonal fare prepared with panache and a touch of luxury. Think oysters with fried potatoes and seaweed remoulade or poached pears with bay leaf ice cream. The menu is a revolving door of ideas, except for the signature angel egg amuse. An eclectic wine list

Chloe

$$$

Tucked into the trendy Navy Yard district, Chloe’s menu is eclectic, deeply personalized and reflects Chef Haidar Karoum's diverse resume. The shareable plates menu gathers ingredients from across the globe, presenting them in original and consistently delicious ways.Kick off with the likes of hamachi crudo augmented by fish sauce, Thai chilies and thin slabs of avocado; or spiced veal hummus topped with buttered almond slivers and accompanied by fresh-baked naan. For something more hearty, there's penne with a pork ragù that's imbued with a Spanish-style soffrito and loads of domestic pecorin

Fish Shop

$$$

If the name isn't a clear sign and the location facing the waterfront doesn't give it away, one look at the sophisticated nautical decor will set you straight. The large space includes a semi-open kitchen but the patio with marina views is the place to be on warm days. The menu echoes their sister spot in Scotland with a clear focus on fish, though here it's given a Mid-Atlantic update. The Maryland crab crumpet perfectly illustrates that across-the-pond connection and is a perfect opener. The fish is sourced from the Chesapeake region and from a D.C. farming operation, and the menu presents pl

Del Mar

Spanish, Basque

$$$$

Chef Fabio Trabocchi celebrates the flavors of Spain in this stylish, resort-chic restaurant at the Wharf. With coastal blues and whites, polished brass fixtures and large windows overlooking the Potomac, the yawning space has room for everybody. The cooking, meanwhile, delivers in spades, bringing finesse and refinement to classics like Andalucian garlic shrimp studded with croutons, and Spanish tortilla lined with caramelized onions. Barely touched or simply prepared, beautifully presented fish are a highlight, alongside seasonal soups and hearty paellas. The beverage program is equally impr
