A good trattoria located in the historic neighborhood that gave birth to literary giants Ennio Flaiano and Gabriele D’Annunzio, two of the city’s most celebrated figures. Operating for over 40 years, it has “survived” both a move (originally at number 58) and a change in management (in 2020) without losing an ounce of its soul. In the kitchen, chef-owner Della Croce presents a menu that strikes a pleasing balance between meat and fish, always guided by careful respect for the seasons. Among the dishes most appreciated by the Inspector is the excellent octopus alla marinara: expertly cooked in two stages and full of flavour, it is served with cherry tomatoes, garlic, olives and capers, bringing out the character of the ingredient with both simplicity and skill.
