Boasting a striking setting in Palmela Castle, overlooking the town of Palmela as well as the links at Montado Golf Club, this fantastic pousada provides an ideal base for a cultural holiday or romantic weekend away. Built in the 17th-century on a hilltop, the castle provides wonderful panoramic views that on clear days stretch all the way to Lisbon. Rooms are spacious and modern with helpful amenities such as air-conditioning, LCD cable television, minibar and internet access. Guests might choose to dine on local specialties, such as cod with onion and coriander and partridge and wild mushroom pie, in the elegant onsite restaurant, which is set in the cloisters of the former convent. In the area around the hotel, visitors can partake in a wide range of outdoor activities such as hiking, canoeing and golf, and the area also offers muscatel tasting and visits to traditional pottery and tile makers.
