In Balestrand, beautifully located beside the Sognefjord, lies Kviknes Hotel. The Kvikne family have been the hosts here since 1877. The hotel was built in the “Swiss” style. There have been many new buildings, reconstructions and extensions since, but none of this has altered the special character of this place. Kviknes is now a modern hotel with old-world charm and atmosphere. Kviknes Hotel is the perfect place to come to relax and enjoy the beautiful nature. alive. In Balestrand there are great hiking trails to explore, you can join a thrilling rib boat ride, you can feel the peace in a kayak on the fjord or take a soothing bike ride through the village. If you decide to experience more of what Balestrand and the Sognefjord have to offer, Kviknes Hotel is the perfect starting point. A few examples from the wide selection of activities in our region are: Norwegian Museum of Tourism in Balestrand, Sognefjord Aquarium, the new view point on road 13 Gaularfjellet, Norwegian Glacier Museum and the Norwegian Book town in Fjærland, Flåmsbana and the Jostedal Glacier National Park, Urnes Stave church, Hopperstad Stave church, Sogn Folk museum in Kaupanger. We have 190 guest rooms, 165 in the modern building from the 60ies, 10 demi suites and , 10 rooms with view in the historic building and 3 upraded rooms in the historic building. The reception area connects the two buildings. We have a lobby bar where we offer ala carte menu and the grand dining room where breakfast and dinner is served. At Kviknes Hotel, we place great emphasis on culinary experiences. Local ingredients are used as far as possible and the Sognefjord is an outstanding larder. Our wine list is the largest and most varied in the Sognefjord. We have spacious lounges where you can enjoy the art and the spectacular view. In the garden you can relax or be a viking and try swimming in the fjord. We have rowing boats and a small fitness room.
