Guest scores & sentiment

From 276 guest reviews · multi-source · as of 2026-07-20

Guests consistently praise spacious, clean rooms with comfortable beds and full amenities, along with friendly staff and a well-regarded restaurant. Breakfast is generally appreciated but seen as somewhat repetitive with limited vegetarian options. Main drawbacks include the motel-style exterior in an industrial area, occasional maintenance issues like blocked drains or aging fixtures, and minor noise or privacy concerns around shared terraces.

Since 1984, the Van Bourgonje family has nurtured Merlet hotel and restaurant, turning it into a firm favourite for many a guest. This extraordinary eatery is testament to their culinary passion. It's hard not to be impressed by the dining space: gold leaf, a moss wall behind the cosy fireplace, 3D effects and a glass wall filled with coloured sand shaped like dunes. The stunning interior design reflects the restaurant's surrounding natural beauty. The terrace overlooking the dunes is also delightful. Red Chilli

Asian, Fusion

€€€

This restaurant brings a slice of Asia all the way to the peaceful Dutch countryside. Red lanterns, Buddha statues, a dragon boat in the middle of the dining space… It's almost as if you have been whisked away to the Far East. Adding to the atmosphere, the host enthusiastically presents each dish. Asian fusion cuisine is interpreted with a modern twist, often incorporating local ingredients, but always staying true to its authentic spirit. Think braised MRIJ beef sirloin in a punchy massaman curry with the perfect dose of chilli. Red Chilli will definitely spice up your evening!

Luella likes nothing better than to amaze her guests with her contemporary surprise menu. Her dishes revolve around a main ingredient of the finest quality, elaborate garnishes and velvety sauces that bring it all together. The wines recommended by Madelene complement the intense flavours beautifully. This duo's enthusiasm is infectious!
