With a slogan like Volg de natuur ("Follow nature") and a name that refers to the fertile, clay-rich soil of the area, it is immediately clear that terroir is a key focus at Lutum. This vision is carried through into every aspect of the restaurant. The decor has a natural Zen feel, with an abundance of decorative features reminiscent of trees. The menu showcases the freshest ingredients sourced directly from local gardens and food forests. The surprise menu, designed to minimise waste, highlights local produce and adds an international twist with ingredients such as koji and miso. Once the town hall, this is the ideal place for convivial dining. Original features provide a striking contrast with the modern design and warm colours. Indulgence is the name of the game when it comes to the food. Whether you opt for the rich lobster bisque, the sea bass with the rich beurre blanc or their contemporary take on tiramisu, you will be bowled over by the skill and charm of Niels Minkman and his team.

Creativity does not have to revolve around spectacle. Do not expect crazy combinations or 101 variations from Hans Derks. The ingenuity of this modest chef lies in finding harmony with a limited number of elements. For example, he will pimp an ajoblanco soup, with its delicate balance between almond and garlic, with fresh pieces of herring, fish roe and a visually appealing palette of vegetables such as beetroot, radish and leek. That is the power of simplicity. Chef Derks likes to play with Mediterranean flair and Eastern intensity, and dares to update a preparation of tournedos Rossini, for

Druten's old school has been converted into a restaurant with a charming retro-modern location and a menu offering a choice of modern, traditional and vegetarian dishes. Although the chef will readily produce a game dish based on pheasant, he tends towards the contemporary end of the spectrum. This manifests itself in his use of seasonings from around the globe and the presentation of the dishes. A delicious lesson for any foodie!

The wooden horse heads on the walls, the impressive chandeliers that call to mind the wheels of a horse-drawn carriage, the partitions between the tables: you can't help but notice that you're dining in the former stables of Amerongen Castle. The terrace overlooking the castle and gardens is breathtaking! The cuisine is characterised by its use of locally sourced ingredients, French cooking techniques and a global outlook. The duck gyoza in a rich game broth with marinated mushrooms and crispy scallions says it all!
