The site was once part of the adjoining Benedictine Priory and during its time as a hotel, it was commandeered by the Ministry of Information in World War II. Today the hotel is committed to offering a warm welcome and excellent service boasting all the modern facilities and comfort demanded by business and leisure travellers. Built – funnily enough – in 1919, it boasts one of the best panoramic views of the English countryside that you will find. A proudly British spirit shines through in the cooking, from the use of Exmoor caviar and Evesham asparagus to a butter sauce flavoured with English sparkling wine. The service is well-paced and the whole experience comes at a sensible price tag.
