Haus Sundl - Privatzimmer

This lovingly maintained 1912 estate has been in the same family for four generations. The restaurant is divided into two parts: a traditional dining room with a sense of history, and a bright, modern annexe with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the lovely garden and its splendid terrace. The kitchen team rustles up fabulous Austrian dishes such as the classic pike dumplings or minced veal butter schnitzel, not to mention the delicious plum dumplings. The Jamek name is also renowned for exceptional Rieslings and Grüner Veltliners.

This building has a long history. Built in 1320, it was originally part of a monastery – Stift St Florian. Today, it is home to a charming and elegant restaurant with a lovely vaulted ceiling. The kitchen serves a modern take on classic cuisine. In addition to two set menus with four to seven courses, there are daily specials. Standout dishes include "Irish rock oyster with a clear Bloody Mary and celery stick", sweetbreads with pimientos, chipotle and lime, and Wiener schnitzel with potato salad. The location right by the Danube is reason enough to stop by. The unobstructed view of the water and the greenery all around make the terrace a popular spot. Large windows ensure that diners indoors can enjoy the scenery as well. This family-run restaurant stands out for its honest, traditional cuisine built on regional ingredients, with an emphasis on fresh fish from local farms. Alongside salmon trout, pike-perch, char and more, the menu features specialities such as fried blood sausage slices with potato salad and pumpkin seed oil.
