It was all change in 2026 when Vita Bartininkaitė closed her Pas mus restaurant and returned to the kitchen here at Nineteen18, where she was joined by Justinas Misus. They may have all the latest techniques, but what makes the cooking so appealing is that it’s discernibly Lithuanian and makes great use of the country’s produce; even the herbs for the tea served at the end of the 10-course dinner come from Vita’s mother’s garden. The roots of this heritage building sit back in the 17th century, but the moniker means much more than this, with the owners naming it to be: “About home, about connection, about roots. About where we come from and where we are going”. Ask for a seat at the counter if you want to feel in the thick of the action at this lovely little restaurant. It’s cramped, rustic and full of life – and run with a joyful spirit by the young team. This is ‘nonna’-style cooking with a pure Italian heart: nothing too fancy, just straightforward dishes that burst with flavour. The great value weekly menu of eight or so dishes is written on a blackboard and could include the likes of breaded cod with celeriac and apple slaw, while the daily pasta might be pappardelle with rich duck ragu. Set in the heart of the Old Town, 14Horses has a sleek, pared-back look and a pleasantly relaxed vibe. Its unusual name comes from the restaurant’s previous location in the old stables of Pacai Palace, and leans on the idea that a nobleman needed 14 horses to be considered truly aristocratic. Thankfully though, both the prices and the style of the cooking here are a little more down to earth. Dishes proudly show off ingredients from the restaurant's regenerative farm in Radiškis, and the bold, well-defined flavours are delivered in original combinations.

It’s worth making the journey a few kilometres outside the city to eat at this friendly restaurant; ask for a table on the enclosed veranda or in the garden to get a feeling of dining among the pine trees. The seven or so dishes are designed with sharing in mind and are overtly seasonal – in spring you might find a superb malted sourdough to begin with, followed by oysters with pine, scallops with buttermilk or roasted quail. There’s usually just one dessert on offer, but if it’s the coffee mille-feuille then you’re are in for a treat. Natural wines accompany the modern cooking.

Sister to Momo Grill and monai, this laid-back restaurant has a sleek, modern style. Parquet floors sit below striking faux-candle chandeliers, while shelves of wine fill vintage sideboards. Punchy, colourful dishes blend Mediterranean and Middle Eastern flavours and are offered in two different formats: the majority of the menu comprises modern plant-led small plates – three per person plus a dessert is about right – but there are also three main courses which are based around fish or meat. Service is warm and friendly, and the courtyard terrace is a real boon.

2026 saw this fun and ever-popular Mexican restaurant move to bigger premises – complete with a pleasant terrace – making it the perfect place to come for a night out with friends. Start with their terrific traditional margaritas and order a range of dishes to share, from corn tacos to fajitas; do include the quesabirria, which comes with very succulent lamb – and, of course, the golden churros are the only way to finish. Prices are more than fair, especially when you consider the generous size of the dishes. The service team are well-organised, and the colourful room adds to the atmosphere.
