La Table d'Olivier

At Olivier’s Table, Pierre is in the kitchen, while his partner, Fanny, a talented pastry chef, oversees the front-of-house. Normandy-born Pierre has enthusiastically embraced Corrèze, his land of adoption, in this town centre stone house, whose modern furnishings and designer lighting are the epitome of elegant. The repertory, in tune with the zeitgeist and at bargain prices, ticks all the boxes: enticing, polished and colourful. Examples include poached oysters, marinated seabass with citrus fruit and a lemon-vodka sorbet; veal scallop and sweetbread, ravioles of chanterelle mushrooms and bl

What a splendid spot! The River Dordogne meanders at the foot of this superb château set in a formal garden and grounds. The panoramic view from the terrace will take your breath away. The dining room is similarly stunning: marble floors, wall hangings, coffered ceiling and carved wooden fireplace. Stéphane Andrieux has been running the show for almost 25 years, rolling out a polished culinary lineup. Examples include roast Quercy lamb (fillet and rack), flanked with carrot tortellini and soy seasoning or a delicate shortbread of strawberry and meadowsweet, signed Marc Jean, house pastry chef

On the main road to Brive-la-Gaillarde, you are bound to notice this Corrèze-style building with its characteristic local stone walls and slate roof. You will immediately feel at home inside, thanks to the soothing decor (wooden floors, oak tables, leather- and fabric-upholstered seating) and the beaming smile of the laid-back chef. He cooks by instinct, devising blind menus out of locally sourced ingredients. His delicious dishes, such as Limousin veal belly, smoked beetroot, carrot ketchup and mashed parsnips, lack neither colour nor precision.

Between Corrèze and Lot, this charming 19C manor house has been completely renovated and now sports an airy, stylish dining room. The ceramic apples hanging from the ceiling evoke the restaurant’s nearby orchard and vegetable garden. Gifted, youthful chef Oscar Garcia (stints at Franck Putelat in Carcassonne and La Table d'Uzès) crafts seasonal dishes with a touch of creativity, using produce sourced from within a 100km radius: trout with beetroot, verbena and blueberries; Lot duck, chicory and blackcurrant pepper jus; hazelnut fougasse with a grape and tomato dessert. Five cosy guestrooms. Si

Born in South Africa and raised in New Zealand and Australia where he learnt the craft, Nick Honeyman fell in love with France and its produce following stints at Arpège and above all Astrance. In fact, it was thanks to Pascal Barbot that our globetrotter found his way to this bistro that he has gradually turned into a gourmet establishment. Exquisitely presented, his signature cuisine is a masterfully intelligent festival of emulsions and contrasting flavours. This seasonal restaurant (May-Sept) located in a picturesque village boasts a terrace overlooking the garden’s manicured lawn. In the

Les Trois Soleils de Montal

This property located on the Causse de Gramat, near Saint-Céré, boasts a hotel with restaurants, peaceful grounds, a pool, and a nearby golf course. The Trois Soleils wins diners over with its elegant traditional interior leading onto a fragrant summer terrace and grounds. The room is adorned with tapestries and ceramics by Jean Lurçat, an artist dear to chef Frédérik Bizat, an antique dealer in a former life. Today, he devotes himself solely to treating diners to wholesome fare courtesy of quality produce (particularly local herbs) and delicate craftsmanship. A fine dining experience with an

This couple who earned their stripes in the industry have transformed this charming Périgord mill – a water-powered sawmill, to be precise – into a peaceful country restaurant. The stream that drives the cogs can be seen beneath the restaurant through the glass floor panels. The chef rustles up delicious food that is very much in tune with the times – eg fillet of roast Limousin beef, topped with a good red wine jus and accompanied by Noirmoutier potatoes. They have a lovely shaded terrace, and the proprietress provides attentive service.

Between Rocamadour and Padirac, this fabulous family-run restaurant is a treat for foodies! A team of three (twins – a brother and sister – plus her partner) take their guests on a culinary journey showcasing local produce: lamb from Ferme Bouscarel (a family farm), vegetables from Tauriac, and trout from the small-scale fish farm, Le Gouffre du Blagour. A butcher and charcutier by trade, the brother is an expert when it comes to cuts of meat. As for this widely travelled couple, they punctuate their dishes with international touches: za'atar, black lemon and even a mayonnaise with spicy Korea
