Paolo Griffa al Caffè Nazionale

Creative, Italian Contemporary · ★ Michelin

€€€€

A historic city restaurant, overlooking Aosta's main square, has been brought back to life by the passion of young chef Paolo Griffa. It offers colourful, balanced and contemporary cuisine, available in 3, 5 or 7-course tasting menus. Always attentive to the harmony of flavours and chromatic beauty of dishes, the chef demonstrates a growing skill in handling vegetables, as evidenced by the vegetarian dishes always on the menu. The service is of an excellent standard and the wine offerings of great depth. Of course, as the name suggests, some spaces are dedicated to excellent coffee, equipped w

Vecchio Ristoro

Cuisine from the Aosta Valley, Contemporary · ★ Michelin

€€€€

Despite its central location and elegant ambience, this former 17C mill, which has retained its old wheel and millstone in the dining room, has the feel of the open mountains. The excellent service here is overseen by Paolo Bariani, one of the partners, who is also responsible for the 300 or so wines in the cellar. The wine list features a careful balance of famous names and small wineries, with wines also available by the glass. The second partner, chef Filippo Oggioni, is at the helm in the kitchen, where he skilfully showcases the flavours and traditions of the Aosta valley with a modern tw

Operating since 1957 in the heart of the historic center, Nando is a go-to spot for those wanting to experience Valdostan cuisine: excellent cured meats (usually served with the famous fontina), polenta and fondue, fondue bourguignonne, rustic polenta tart with goat milk gelato... all prepared with top-quality ingredients and served in a simple yet atmospheric setting. The wine selection is excellent, focusing mainly on the Aosta Valley, with over 100 different labels, many of which are available by the glass. Among the desserts, the rothia is a must-try: white wine custard, spiced bread, and

Gina casa con cucina

Modern Cuisine, Italian Contemporary

€€€

This restaurant in the old town has a simple and informal feel, with two rooms in the basement built between the Roman walls of Aosta. The quality of the cuisine here is remarkable – the menu features dishes inspired by local traditions, alongside a selection of modern and personalised Italian dishes (including meat options).

Stefenelli Desk

Italian Contemporary, Modern Cuisine

€€

This restaurant is situated in an alleyway in the historic centre of Aoste. Full of character and accessed via a staircase from the entrance hall, the dining room is housed in what were probably the palazzo’s 18C stables. Under a brick-vaulted ceiling and arches, enjoy cuisine from the Aosta valley with a creative twist.
