La Casa Sul Fiume

An expertly run family restaurant not far from the historic centre. Warm atmosphere in the two dining rooms (especially the one with the fireplace), where the daily specials are marked on a blackboard. A real gem of restaurant, which also has a few charming guestrooms furnished in fir and cherry wood.

Situated next to the ruins of the old castle and the small church of San Michele, this 13C building, thought to have once housed a guardroom, is now home to a small restaurant serving regional, seasonal cuisine with a modern twist. During the week, the restaurant offers a lunchtime menu of top-quality snacks (the Venetian “cicchetti”), as well as a few “primi” and desserts.

This inn, which has been serving food since the early 19C, boasts a warm atmosphere with a rustic feel. The beautiful garden makes a delightful setting in fine weather, while the cuisine focuses on traditional dishes from Friuli, such as “frico” (potato, onion and cheese fritter) and cured ham.

A corner that is simply out of this world, tucked away in a delightful chalet with a fireplace that smells of wood and warmth. The cuisine celebrates local produce in tune with the seasons: wild herbs from Valdestali in spring, vegetables from the kitchen garden in summer, and fruits from the surrounding woods in autumn. Delicacies include lasagnetta with venison ragout and chanterelle mushrooms, cjarsons and antique apple strudel with vanilla ice cream. There is only one tasting menu, and reservations must be made at least two days in advance.

Beneath the bell tower of a pretty village, Al Grop welcomes guests into a classic setting brightened by original touches and the warmth of a crackling fireplace. The menu reflects the local flavours, with grilled meats, and asparagus in season, taking centre stage. There's a grand finale for those with a sweet tooth: the dessert trolley. And for those who want to stay a little longer, the guesthouse offers cosy, well-appointed rooms.
