Kelderman

Traditional Cuisine, Seafood · ★ Michelin

€€€€

Charismatic Peter Van den Driesschen elegantly and effortlessly welcomes guests, thus setting the tone as he ushers you into a smart, fashionably pared-back dining room, bathed in light and hung with works of art, while overlooking a manicured garden. And that is only the beginning! Kelderman’s front-of-house team bends over backwards to make sure you lack for nothing as they spoil you rotten. Seafood enjoys the lead roles here, but meat-lovers needn’t fret as there is something for everyone. The chef allows the pure, unadulterated flavours of ingredients to shout their name rather than indulg

De Bakermat

Leave busy Leopoldlaan behind you, venture over the threshold of this spruce white villa and bask in the charming welcome of Barbara and chef Kevin. The couple is proud of their stylish establishment, appointed in a more modern vein to the rear and which sports an eye-catching glazed wine cellar. Over the years, De Bakermat has become a firm fixture of Ninove’s culinary scene. The secret to good food resides in the quality of the ingredients, which isn’t as simple as it sounds. Chef Kevin not only sources top-drawer produce, like turbot, truffles and premium breeds of meat, such as Holstein, h

Thomas Locus has restored this former presbytery in the picturesque streets around the church of Bodeghem-Saint-Martin whilst upholding its period character. Agnes fascinates by its casual charm and each detail bears witness to a sincere respect for traditional table arts, notwithstanding the odd modern touch. The lineup of outstanding ingredients is emblematic of this ethos: hop shoots, hare and Burgundy wines are showcased with love and passion. This is also true of the intense sauces and spot-on culinary technique, embodied by juicy turbot cooked on the bone and paired with a sauce choron th

Sir Kwinten

Modern Cuisine, French · ★★ Michelin

Wine is central to Sir Kwinten, as you cannot fail but notice as soon as you cross the threshold of this imposing mansion. Flacons of wine are showcased in a display case, while Gueuze beer bottles escort you on your way to the restroom. Yannick Dehandschutter is a high-flying sommelier, who gets as much pleasure out of suggesting local beers and wine from the Dappeersveld estate as the production of a few daring winegrowers and even sakes. Now make your way upstairs to the elegant dining room, where wine also takes centre stage, thanks to food-wine matches made in heaven courtesy of a classic

Nothing leaves the kitchen that chef Lode De Roover has not preened to perfection. From the surgically sliced vegetables to the spot-on cooking times and inspired plating, this fan of outstanding classical produce leaves nothing to chance, without forgoing the opportunity to treat himself to the odd creative and unexpected original touch. His signatures include subtle barbecued langoustine with lemongrass oil, lemon zest and a whey foam laced with shellfish jus or a medium rare fillet of Barbary duck flanked with a mind-blowingly rich jus and a crisp springtime medley of asparagus and broad be

For example, classical flavours find their way onto the menu, providing they can be paired with his creative recipes. The wine list is a treasure trove of tipples from Italy, Spain and France. A bijou eatery if ever there was!
