A unique restaurant, where each season finds inspiration in a different theme. Occupying a restored country house in beautifully landscaped surroundings, the setting is as appealing as the menu. The latter comes courtesy of Alberto Ferruz, who also runs the Michelin-starred Casa Pepa in Ondara. This is a chef who always turns to the Mediterranean and Alicante's Marina Alta for his magnificent fish and seafood, which take centre stage alongside produce from his bountiful vegetable gardens, and herbs from the Montgó mountains. In this bright, contemporary restaurant boasting superb views, the full bounty of the sea is honoured through traditional cooking that is always based around the freshest ingredients (in fact, their motto is ‘we cook the Mediterranean’). Choose between an array of rice (for a minimum of two people) and fideuá dishes, as well as a good choice of meat, plus a selection of superb fish from the auction in Xàbia. The turbot with pilpil is worthy of special mention, thanks to its mouthwatering grilled aromas.

Tosca takes its name from the local stone that is an integral part of its interior decor. This eatery surprises with a pleasant terrace, overlooking the canal and the moored pleasure boats! The Mediterranean cuisine served here is delicately brought up to date and the restaurant offers an à la carte service and two tasting menus: Luna and Eclipse (the latter with a wine-pairing option and only for a full table, with a minimum of two diners). We especially liked their veal sweetbread, shiso, carrot, cumin, honey and sesame taco!

What is most striking is its location in the Art al Camp, a natural-artistic outdoor space with a series of charming palm trees, olive trees and large wrought iron figures, the works of local sculptor Toni Marí and Juan Ripollés; in fact, visible from the road, we are welcomed by Antonia, a sculpture measuring more than 30 metres... in the shape of a whale! In the bright, contemporary restaurant, chef Alejandro Crespo adopts a Mediterranean-inspired cuisine that stands out for its modern take on tapas (such as Nuestro mejillón tigre (stuffed mussels)), the extensive Cocas de La Marina section
