The Bannister Hotel takes its name from Jack Bannister, an English corsair who rebelled against British authorities and, in 1690, engaged in a naval battle from two ships against English frigates off the island’s coast. This historic event led the area to be known as “Cayo Bannister, ” later renamed Cayo Levantado, a destination now visited by thousands of travelers each year. The hotel opened its doors in late 2010 with a fresh and distinctive concept in the northern region of the Dominican Republic, blending casual luxury with a spectacular natural setting. It features 30 elegantly appointed suites offering breathtaking views of the mountains, the marina, and Samaná Bay—creating the perfect atmosphere for a refined and relaxing stay.
