French Contemporary · ★ Michelin

$$$$

With this glitzy, well-appointed hotspot, Chef Christophe De Lellis brings an impressive pedigree to Dallas, having led the kitchen at Vegas’s Restaurant Joël Robuchon for nearly a decade. The bistronomie-style menu of elevated simple plates is offered à la carte, though the prices are still nothing to sniff at. Diners looking to indulge will get their money’s worth, however: top-drawer ingredients, faultless technique and world-class sauces are evident throughout. Shareable portions like Dover sole with brown butter or veal “Cordon Bleu” (served with Robuchon’s signature butter-laden pommes p

$$$

You could drive right past this place set within a collection of small businesses off a main highway in Highland Park but keep an eye out for the blind-covered windows emblazoned with "nonna" to avoid missing out. Inside, it's the picture of casual chic down to the last piece of modern art displayed on the exposed brick walls. As for the menu, it's dictated by the seasons and what's available, though the white clam pie from the wood-fired oven and the Maine lobster ravioli are always available (and good thing, too). Pasta is plentiful, with up to 10 different choices on offer, including spaghe

Japanese, Sushi · ★ Michelin

$$$$

With just 10 counter seats, the greatest challenge is securing a reservation at this sushi restaurant within the renovated Continental Gin Building – but perseverance will be rewarded because this is the genuine article. The omakase contains around 14 pieces and follows the edomae tradition, so expect fish that gets steadily stronger in flavor as dinner progresses. You might start with Alaskan sockeye salmon, followed by Spanish tuna and delicious uni from Hokkaido and end with eel from Maine. The rice is also from Hokkaido and Chef Tatsuya Sekiguchi’s deft, practiced movements ensure each pie

Gemma is a charming spot from the husband-and-wife team of Chef Stephen Rogers and Allison Yoder. The couple met while working at Napa Valley's Press and returned to Rogers's home state to open this intimate spot in Dallas that highlights contemporary American cooking with a seasonal focus. The evening begins with a simple sounding but sinfully delicious warm raisin scone. Fried Castelvetrano olives mixed with fragrant Texas pecans are a delight, but it's cooking like the roasted heirloom carrots or the Idaho trout almondine that make a meal here memorable. Stillwell's

Steakhouse

$$$$

It's nestled inside the Hôtel Swexan, a tongue-in-cheek play on Swiss hospitality meets Texas, but there's no mistaking the roots of this upscale steakhouse: it's named for the legendary lady rancher, Hallie Stillwell. Ride the elevator to the seventh floor to enter this clubby den, then sip a cocktail as you peruse their extensive menu with all of the classics. Kick things off with a shrimp cocktail, caviar, or treat yourself to the bountiful seafood tower, but of course, steaks take center stage. There are many selections but their bespoke in-house HWD beef—a superb Akaushi beef from their o

There are occasions for trends and then there are times when tradition reigns, and that's exactly where Mercat Bistro comes in. This amiable restaurant delivers the classic French bistro experience from its wood floors, marble-topped tables, and round-backed chairs to its extensive menu showcasing all of the hits. Discover a litany of favorites, ranging from escargots in parsley butter and French onion soup to moules frites and pot au crème. Come at lunch to indulge in sandwiches like the croque monsieur. $$$$

Nestled inside the luxe Ritz-Carlton, Fearing's is elegant and dramatic. The handsome look may read traditional steakhouse but this flagship restaurant from Chef Dean Fearing isn't straightforward. Instead, the American menu with clear Southwestern influences is both complex and composed with buffalo and antelope along with classic-leaning filets. The dishes are surprising, offering bold flavors and new takes on the tried-and-true. Case in point? Their Lone Star mosaic, Fearing's take on carpaccio with tuna, wagyu beef, salmon, and barbecued eel composing a vivid plate resembling stained glass

Ngon Vietnamese Kitchen reflects owner Carol Nguyen’s desire to share the flavors of her homeland with Dallas.
