This restaurant serves a wide range of Asian cuisine – sushi, curries and wok dishes are the highlights, and the focus is squarely on the quality of the ingredients. Inside, there is a minimalist decor and open kitchen; outside, a lovely covered terrace. The trip to Grünwald is definitely worthwhile. Marily, which sells ice cream and confectionery in summer, is housed in the same building. Tip: Park free of charge in the multi-storey car park on Marktplatz a few metres away.

This is partly down to the completely unpretentious and pleasantly informal atmosphere – you can sense the owners' dedication here. This smart and trendy bistro version of the main restaurant, Chang, in Grünwald features mostly Thai cuisine and dishes with influences from Japan. Here, too, the emphasis is on high-quality ingredients. The Thai curries as well as the sushi can be highly recommended. At lunchtime there is also a daily changing lunch menu. Lovely terrace, as well as covered winter garden-style dining space.

Regina and Markus Schupp, after whom this restaurant is named, are both professionally trained chefs. Here they rustle up seasonal dishes inspired by the cuisines of France and Germany. Delicious examples include scallops au gratin with green asparagus, Jerusalem artichoke and almond, or venison ragout with cranberries, Brussels sprout leaves and sour cream. Those who wish to savour a more extensive meal can put together their own set menu comprising three to five courses for a fixed price. In his charming restaurant, nestled in the historical Asam Schlössl of 1687 just outside the city centre, Irish-born Shane McMahon expertly weaves his personal touch into delicious Bavarian cuisine. The menu features hearty classics such as roast pork with cracklings and dark beer jus, as well as modern dishes such as barbecued octopus with spicy ox muzzle salad, and steaks done on the Big Green Egg or the "Schlössl Sharing Brettl" (an assortment of snacks for sharing). A tip to start with: reserve well in advance! Given the great value for money and the relaxed atmosphere, it's no surprise that they tend to get booked up. They call themselves the "Bavarian Deli". In the interior done out in a slick Alpine/country-style style, the service is personable and relaxed. Located in the Dreimühlenviertel, this charming old brick building was a fish market back when it was set amid an abattoir and wholesale butchers. Now it has evolved into this attractive restaurant, which has been designed with an individual touch. Although seafood dominates the menu, it is far from being the only option. Those who prefer meat can indulge in a fillet of beef, to name but one example. Highly recommended for groups: a whole fish to share, eg. turbot, char or Atlantic lobster.
