The Grainer family has run this stately historical inn since the 16C. Christian F Grainer and his wife Christiane have established an upscale and tastefully designed space, combining classic style with understated modern accents. Your charming and cordial hostess puts her heart and soul into providing first-class service with a very personal touch. The chef-patron's cooking is rooted in classical French tradition, though he occasionally incorporates culinary impressions from his travels. A case in point is his pairing of Simmental beef fillet, stuffed morels, red wine sauce and celeriac purée

Herrenhaus is located in the centre of the picturesque old town. A cloister, where you will find a quaint little terrace during the summer, leads you to the restaurant on the first floor. The historical setting adds to the warm and welcoming atmosphere. The delicious food is prepared using select in-season regional produce. The dishes are served à la carte or in the form of a set menu. Tip: Inexpensive lunch deal. The genial and obliging waitstaff will be happy to advise you on your choices. There is also an attractively priced wine list dedicated to German, Austrian and Italian labels.

"Dishes that can't be pigeonholed" – such is the name of the game for chef Olimpia Cario. In her surprise set menu, she gives free rein to her creativity, cooking up unusual combinations such as chicken, trout, egg, cucumber, corn and redcurrants. She uses seasonal produce and high-quality ingredients, often grown on her own farm. The interior itself has an eye-catching design, with a large, high-ceilinged space reminiscent of a modern rustic barn on account of the beam construction climbing up into the roof.
