Surrounded by verdant landscapes, this attractive restaurant with a pleasant outdoor dining space is functional in style due to the use of simple materials such as wrought iron and wood, and as such boasts a distinctly minimalist style. A continual quest for cuisine that is both contemporary and rustic in flavour is reflected in owner-chef Vezzani’s reinterpretation of local recipes, which he enhances with interesting combinations and produce grown in the restaurant’s own biodynamic kitchen garden. The restaurant offers five surprise tasting menus: “Gli Intramontabili” (a tribute to the region

Reservations must be made at least 24 hours in advance by email, choosing from three menus: tradition, land, or fish. The rest is history, if not legend, for what has been one of the best trattorias in the province (we’d venture to say the region) since the 1960s. In a corner of the Parmesan Apennines, Mariella continues to delight guests with the same family management, enhanced by a Japanese cook who adds a slightly more modern touch to select recipes. Recently, a comfortable lounge area with good background music has been added.

Calabrian chef Salvatore Morello brings a breath of fresh air to the city synonymous with gastronomy. Drawing on an international background, he presents a cuisine that weaves together recipes and ingredients from diverse culinary worlds, united by finesse, personality, and a striking cohesion. Exceptional raw materials, occasionally accented by exotic notes, find precise balance in every course. Special mention goes to the bread program: the loaf, crafted from sourdough and minimally refined flours and baked in a cast-iron pot, captivates with its pronounced crust and unexpected lightness. Chef Giacomo Devoto from Sarzana has transformed an old 17th-century farmhouse, surrounded by greenery, into a charming inn complete with rooms and a working farm, where tranquillity and hospitality reign. On the bright panoramic veranda, where the gaze reaches as far as the coast and the sea, guests can savour his creations devoted to the most authentic flavours of Lunigiana. The recipes, imaginative yet firmly rooted in the seasons, rest on the fragrance of the ingredients: vegetables – like the extra virgin olive oil – come largely from his extensive kitchen garden, while proteins are selec

On arriving in Via Stella, one immediately senses how naturally this restaurant frees itself from frills and accolades, embracing instead a sober elegance, enhanced by major works of contemporary art that reflect Massimo Bottura’s personal passion. The same measured language returns in the kitchen, where greatness is expressed through control, balance and vision: a narrative that begins in Modena and Emilia before reaching towards the great international classics, reinterpreted by the chef with that playful lightness which reminds us that food should first and foremost be pleasure, memory and

The top floor of the Executive Spa Hotel opens up like a lounge suspended between the sky and the hills: fine dining by chef Mattia Trabetti overlooks an elegant rooftop, where glass walls let in soft light and a relaxing view of the Sanctuary of the Blessed Virgin of the Castle. Before sitting down, you can start – or end – the evening in the adjacent Cocktail Bar Aria, also up there, among reflections and panoramic views. There are two tasting menus (but each dish is also available à la carte): “Modena Safari” and the vegetarian “Emilia vegetale”. Browsing the menu, a small map shows the ori

Situated on the first floor of the 13C military fort in the centre of Rubiera, this elegant restaurant boasts five dining rooms, each one more delightful than the last and all frescoed, with the exception of the old limonaia which is decorated with wallpaper depicting its former function. This stylish and romantic setting provides the backdrop for young and enthusiastic chef Jacopo Malpeli who, having been born and raised between Parma and Reggio, creates cuisine that reflects the grandeur and opulence of local culinary traditions. Among his many interesting dishes, a particular favourite is t

In the rooms of an old farmhouse that “Drake” Enzo Ferrari purchased, along with the entire area now dedicated to the iconic Maranello factory and symbol of Italy in the world, to make it a company canteen later transformed from 1950 into a proper restaurant, today the creative vein of Massimo Bottura is expressed through the work of his student Riccardo Forapani and of Virginia Cattaneo. The most orthodox regional cuisine – the tortellini from Tortellante are unmissable – is therefore also represented with refined customizations, as with Mòdna, the Sachertorte in a customized version with sou
