Centara Hotels & Resorts is a Thai-origin hotel group whose roots go back to 1983, when Central Group formed Central Hotels & Resorts and opened its first five-star property. The company adopted the Centara Hotels & Resorts name in June 2007 and began overseas expansion with Centara Grand Island Resort & Spa Maldives in late 2009. Centara’s investor site lists a hotel portfolio of 85 operating and pipeline properties across 12 countries. Its brand architecture spans luxury and upper-upscale stays through Centara Reserve, The Centara Collection and Centara Grand; the core Centara brand; Centara Life for value-and-comfort stays; and COSI, described by the company as a smart social hub concept for economy travellers.
