Where to Base
Base yourself in the Historic Center, particularly around Calle Crisologo. This area concentrates the best-preserved Bahay na Bato houses and key heritage sites. Staying here allows for easy walking access to the cobblestone streets, local eateries, and the Syquia Mansion, immersing you in the authentic colonial atmosphere without needing frequent transport.
Getting Around
Vigan has no airport; travelers typically fly into Manila or San Fernando (Pampanga) and take ground transport. Within the UNESCO zone, the layout is flat and compact. Walking is the primary mode of exploration, supplemented by traditional Kalesa horse-drawn carriages for short distances, offering a nostalgic and efficient way to navigate the heritage district.
Best Season
The dry season from November to May offers the most comfortable conditions for exploring Vigan's outdoor cobblestone streets and heritage sites. The weather is generally cool and dry, ideal for walking tours. Avoid the rainy season (June-October) as heavy rains can make the historic streets slippery and less enjoyable for outdoor sightseeing.
